The Google Maps API offers the facility to embed Google Maps in JavaScript enabled web pages. In Web NMS Web Client, a more user friendly map view can be created with the Google Maps background by placing the map symbols on the exact geographical location on the Google Map.
In the Web Client, select the Maps tab. Click the Add GMap link.
Enter the map name in the Map Name textbox.
Enter the map label in the Map Label textbox.
Select the location from the Location drop down list.

Note : More locations can be added to the list. Refer to the Adding More Location section in the Developer Guide for more details. |
Select the Zoom Level. This directly relates to the 16 levels available in Google Maps.
Select the map type from the Map Type drop down list. The available types in Google Maps are Normal Map, Satellite, and Hybrid.
Click the Add GMap button to add the map. The following message is displayed.

Note : You need to Sign Up to get a Google Maps API key to use the facility in Web NMS. On acquiring the key for the server domain, you can proceed to complete the "Add GMap" wizard and display the GMap in the Web Client. |
Click OK.
Enter the key in the Enter Key here textbox. Or click the Sign up for Key link to sign up for Google Maps API and generate the key.
Click Submit Key to complete the wizard.

Note : The Google API Key for the server domain is stored in the <Web NMS Home>/webclient/map/conf/GMapDetails.xml file within the <KEY GMapKey> tag. |
Signing Up for the Google Maps API
Read the Terms and Conditions before proceeding with signing up for the Google Maps key.
Select the "I have read and agree with the terms and conditions" checkbox.
In the "My web site URL: " textbox, provide the server connection URL e.g http://<hostname>:9090/

Note : You will be prompted to login to your gmail account to complete the process of aquiring the Google Map API key. |
Click the "Generate API Key" button.
The key will be displayed against the "Your key is:" textbox.
Enter the key in the Enter Key here textbox in the Web Client.
Click Submit Key to complete the wizard.
Open the map in which you want to place the map symbols.
Double-click on the location where you want to add the map symbol.
Enter the device name in the Device Name textbox.
Enter the symbol name in the Symbol Name textbox.
Enter the label in the Label Name textbox.
Click the Add GMap Symbol button.
Deleting Map Symbols from GMaps
Click on the map symbol that you want to delete.
Verify the device details, and click on the Delete Symbol link to delete the symbol.
When there is requirement to add more map symbols, it can be achieved by adding the map symbols in the map filter. Please refer to the "Adding GMap Symbols" in the Developer Guide for more details.
