Modes of Operation
The Monitor provides the user with the following capabilities:

On-line(Active) monitoring: In this mode the analyzer can be used to monitor and record all frames on the E1 link and present the result to the operator in a user-friendly window based GUI.

Off-line(Passive) analysis: In this mode, the tester can be used to analyze the previously recorded events and to derive a meaningful & conclusive results on the performance & efficiency of the V5 interfaces and the utilization of the E1 link.
User Friendly Environment
The V5 Monitor aims at providing a user-friendly, interactive unit for testing the V5.2 protocol stack implementation for both the Access Network (AN) and the Local Exchange (LE) sides. A part of various options provided for the user to do intelligent analysis is listed below.

Configuration : The configuration menu of WebNMS V5.2 Protocol analyzer offers various configuration option like data source ie, whether external link or from a file, Record option, Browse option, Interface option, Time option, etc to configure the analyzer.
Analysis : You could view statistical representation of data by clicking on the analysis buttons. Analysis is available only in off-line mode for files recorded during online. It displays the statistical information of Physical, Datalink and Network Layer packets. The user has the choice of viewing the analysis in either a Pie Chart or Histogram or table of statistics by selecting any one of them from the choice box named Gallery. Clicking on the choice box named Parameter and selecting a particular Protocol type will display the analysis for that Protocol. Also selecting the Direction from the choice box named Direction will display the analysis for a particular direction. The statistical information is different for each layer.

Filters : The WebNMS V5 Monitor provides you flexibility in setting filters and to trigger actions based on the trapped data. A Filter is a set of conditions you give to view the data you are interested in. While Monitoring, the monitor would display data based on the filters set. Filters could be set either in Online Monitoring Mode (Run time) or Off-line Analysis mode.
