WebNMS SNMP Micro Agent for MySQL provides out-of-the-box ability to monitor and manage the MySQL components that directly affect the performance and availability of the MySQL Server. It provides an SNMP interface which enables easy integration with ManageEngine Applications Manager, HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, and other management consoles. Database administrators can also manage the MySQL database through web-consoles by easily deploying the agent provided. The MySQL agent leverages an in-depth MySQL performance monitoring by providing real-time statistics and availability of the MySQL server for the database managers who want to optimize database performance and enhance reliability. It also helps the MySQL administrators in fine-tuning the MySQL database applications as well as monitoring the error logs and the usage of memory and CPU.

In addition to retrieving data from the managed resources, WebNMS SNMP Micro Agent for MySQL has the ability to send alerts when it detects any significant event. It is best geared toward the DBAs who want to quickly view the data in a database, checking for errant data or other abnormalities. The agent has been pre-configured to notify the managers whenever a threshold is reached on some important parameters of the MySQL server. With minimal configuration effort, the administrators can also create simple rules using the agent to set thresholds on critical information to emit notifications which include, sending traps to the managers, e-mailing the administrators, etc. when the thresholds are exceeded.

Key Features Benefits
Out-of-the-box fault and performance management of the MySQL server Comprehensive monitoring of MySQL databases, performance, queries, and users with less CPU overhead and no configuration effort. Ability to view the MySQL configuration details and the various log files, including error logs.
Management facilities through SNMP Easy integration with Standard SNMP consoles, such as ManageEngine Applications Manager, HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, etc.
User-friendly Web console for HTTP management Empowers remote administration and management through HTTP.
Command line utility for agent deployment Enables quick and automatic deployment of the agent both remotely and locally.
Comprehensive fault management support Timely alerts to the managers on critical situations i.e, whenever the MySQL server is down or an error is detected in the server, etc.
Powerful Rule Engine for sending alerts to the managers Triggers notifications/SNMP traps and e-mails based on user-defined conditions and thresholds, which can be configured dynamically.
Master-sub agent architecture to provide proxy for SNMP agents Exposes the existing SNMP agents through the agent and hence a single point management for distributed environment of applications.
SNMP v1, v2c, and v3 support Ensures data security and compliance with SNMP standards.
MIB Browser ( SNMP Manager tool) Helps in testing the agent and managing the MySQL databases effectively through SNMP.
Multi-platform support Provides compatibility across various operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, and Solaris.

Architecture

The following image shows the architecture of WebNMS SNMP Micro Agent for MySQL. The agent gathers and exposes all the information of the MySQL server, such as MySQL databases, tables, performance details, queries, users, logs, etc. through Web consoles and various SNMP managers, such as ManageEngine Applications Manager, HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, CA Unicenter, etc. In addition, the rule engine component of the agent helps in emitting notifications to the managers whenever a critical situation is encountered in the server. Apart from the preconfigured rules, the administrators can configure their own set of rules for sending alerts to the managers using the agent.
