The test suite for Printer MIB is intended to test the SNMP agents that implements the Printer MIB (RFC 3805). It validates the syntax, protocol compliance, functionality, error conditions, alerts, and traps.
Printer MIB-specific Tests
The Printer MIB-specific tests include:
Checking the status of the printer during various states of the printer, such as warming up, initial power up, standby mode, printer offline, normal state, printing state, door open, and so on.
Checks for the General Group:
Checks the alert counter.
Checks the cover status.
Checks and validates the changes in localization.
Checks for the Input Group:
Checks the initial status.
Checks the default input index.
Checks the read and write permissions.
Checks for the Input Media Group:
Checks the input max capacity.
Checks the alerts for the status change in Input Group.
Checks the read and write permissions.
Checks for the Output Group:
Checks the output max capacity.
Checks the default output index.
Checks the alerts for the status change in Output Group.
Checks the read and write permissions.
Checks for the Marker Group:
Checks the Marker Counter Unit.
Checks the Marker Status.
Checks for the Marker Supplies Group:
Checks the marker supplies max capacity.
Checks the read and write permissions.
Checking the Alerts and Traps
Check for alerts when the state of the printer is changed.
Check whether traps are sent in the event of an alert.
Modifying the test cases
SNMP Agent Tester offers you the flexibility to modify the Printer MIB-specific tests to suit your need. For example, if you need to add a new test case or a new condition to a specific test case, you can do so.
It may be noted that, all the tests are defined for the first instance of the tables. You can also change the instance of the row, if required. Say for example, if you have two printers managed by a single agent where each instances refer to a different printer, you can make a copy of the test cases and change the row instances.
Manual Intervention
Test cases that involves testing the status of the printer, such as door open, input tray low, toner low, and so on, requires manual intervention to change the printer status manually and continue testing.

Note: This test suite can also be used to test the agents implementing RFC 1759. |
